Monsoon Season is here, and that means potential problems for your AC unit.
Here are some helpful tips to help keep your AC system working properly.
Tip #1 Check your outdoor condenser after every storm
After a dust storm it’s important to clean off your outdoor condenser by clearing any dust, leaves, branches, or trash from the exterior. Simply hosing off the unit will suffice, do not use a high-pressure sprayer.
Tip #2 Change your filters
Arizona dust storms can be brutal and may cause you air conditioner to work harder than it needs to. You can expect to change filters every 2 weeks during monsoon season. Your filters are the first line of defense between you and dirty outside air. As your filter collects dirt it becomes harder for fresh air to pass through, leaving your unit working overtime to keep your home cool. By regularly changing your filters you can help ensure the longevity of your equipment while saving on your energy costs.
Tip #3 Make sure your drain lines are stay clean and clear
When drain lines get clogged the excess water will overflow from the drain pan, causing leaks in your home. You can try to unclog the drains yourself (with a proper water/dry vacuum), however we suggest consulting an HVAC professional to assist in this cleaning.
